Marcel Stallen is a senior agronomist with over 40 years of international experience in horticultural value chains and climate-resilient production systems across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. A former FAO specialist based in Pakistan, he led major rural development initiatives in Balochistan, promoting efficient water-use practices and small-scale hydroponic solutions for smallholder farmers. Since retiring from FAO in 2023, Marcel has been serving as a volunteer coordinator with PUM Netherlands, supporting horticultural SMEs in 30 countries. His career also includes leadership roles with Wageningen University & Research and Fresh Dynamics Asia, where he helped translate innovative horticultural technologies into practical solutions for emerging markets.
